From the forehead to the neck, many aesthetic techniques correct the first signs of aging from the age of 40, while others are often practiced later. These interventions can also be combined for a better result.
Dermatologist or a specialized surgeon: which professional to choose?
But before taking the plunge, it is important to choose the right practitioner who, depending on the technique, will be a dermatologist or a specialized surgeon. A detailed estimate must be presented for any intervention for an amount greater than € 300 or taking place under general anesthesia, with a cooling-off period of fifteen days.
The practitioner must explain the expected result using drawings, photos, or simulations on screen. He also has an informed consent signed which specifies the modalities of the intervention and the possible risks.
The doctor sets his rates freely. It is therefore wise to compare two or three quotes, especially since these acts are not reimbursed.
Our advice with doctor Vladimir Mitz, member of the French society for plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
Botox to smooth the forehead
Used for over twenty years in aesthetic medicine, botulinum toxin (or botox) injectionsdecrease the contraction of the muscles involved in the formation of wrinkles. They allow you to find a less worrying expression by erasing the “lion’s wrinkles” between the eyebrows, those of the forehead, and the crow’s feet around the eyes.
The practitioner injects very small amounts of the toxin into the muscles using a very fine needle, without anesthesia or by applying an anesthetic gel.
A check, between fifteen and thirty days after the injection, makes it possible to make any alterations. Visible from four days, the results are optimal between ten and fifteen days later and last between four and six months. A duration which tends to increase with repeated treatments.
The price. From 300 to 600 € for the care of “lion” wrinkles, forehead and crow’s feet.
The opinion of doctor Mitz, surgeon: “This intervention, which replaced the forehead lift, is very effective and gives a truly natural result. “
Eyelid surgery to rejuvenate the look
The blepharoplasty corrects the eyelids by removing excess skin and pockets of fat. The impression of fatigue fades, the gaze is more rested.
The operation, on an outpatient basis, lasts an average of one hour, under local or light general anesthesia. It concerns the two upper or lower eyelids, or even all four eyelids.
Return to work can be done one to three weeks later.
The price. From 1,500 to 2,000 € for two eyelids. Health insurance coverage is possible when the field of vision is hampered by droopy eyelids.
The opinion of doctor Mitz, surgeon: “Within one to six months, the tissues regained their suppleness and the scars were gone. The result then lasts about fifteen years. “

Fillers or fillers for bitterness folds
With age, the face becomes hollow. Wrinkles appear from the wings of the nose to the corner of the mouth, called nasolabial folds or “bitterness folds”.
Skin injections of an absorbable gel based on hyaluronic acid restore the volume of the cheeks and around the mouth. Depending on its consistency, the effect of the injection lasts between six months and two years.
The doctor uses an anesthetic product coupled with the gel in the syringe or even a cream.
These injections are performed by a dermatologist or by a surgeon who sometimes combines them with a facelift.
You can also use lipofilling, a method of injecting fat cells taken from the stomach or thighs. After two or three lipofillings, the effect lasts for several years.
The price. From 300 to 500 € for gel injections based on hyaluronic acid; from 1,500 to 2,000 € per session for lipofilling.
The opinion of doctor Mitz, surgeon: “For lipofilling, two or three operations are necessary, a few months apart, because not all cells survive. ”
Lipolift to refine the neck
More common in men, from the age of 40-45 years, this procedure removes excess fat from the jowls, neck and double chin.
Through small incisions, the surgeon introduces a fine cannula that detaches and aspirates the fat, under local or light general anesthesia. You must then wear a compression band at night for at least two weeks.
The bruises fade in ten days. Medical follow-up is scheduled once a month for three months.
The price. From 1,500 to 2,000 € the intervention.
The opinion of doctor Mitz, surgeon: “The results are long-lasting, as long as you don’t gain weight. ”
The peel for a boost
Before embarking on a facelift, why not try a peel? It eliminates dead cells and activates the production of collagen. Thus the skin appears more radiant and smoother.
We usually start with a superficial peeling with glycolic acid, which acts only on the skin and requires several sessions.
This intervention can be followed by a medium peel with trichloroacetic acid, which acts in the dermis and improves the appearance of sagging and wrinkled skin.
The skin pulls for forty-eight hours before flaking.
The price. Around € 100 for a 15 to 30 minute session. One to three sessions are necessary.
The opinion of doctor Mitz, surgeon: “The gentle acid peel is performed by dermatologists. It is advisable to do one per year for the better luminosity of the skin. ”
