In question ; a very potent corticosteroid
Due to the presence of clobetasol propionate, the DGCCRF invites consumers who have recently purchased this cream to immediately stop using it and return it to the store for a refund.
The site from the Canadian government, which also reported recalls of this type in August 2018, specifies that clobetasol propionate is a very powerful corticosteroid for topical use (for the skin). This active ingredient is present in many medicines to treat inflammatory skin diseases, and should only be used on prescription.
Risk of more or less serious side effects
Because this medication can cause more or less serious side effects (irritation, weakening, or deterioration of the skinu), even symptoms of adrenal suppression (hypotension, hypoglycemia, weight loss, muscle pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, and severe fatigue) or Cushing’s syndrome (hypertension, hyperglycemia, weight gain, muscle weakness, bone loss, and severe fatigue). This molecule is also not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
