Gain a few centimeters in width or length on their penis, this is the goal of those who use this intimate surgery. Practiced by more than 500 people in France in 2016, the penoplasty has seen a sharp increase in demand over the past decade. What do you need to know before going (or not) to the pool table? We interviewed Dr. Jacques Derhy, plastic surgeon, author of the” Atlas of aesthetic surgery of the male sex, and collected testimonials from those who tested.
Who is penoplasty for?
These operations (Editor’s note: you will see that there are several) are aimed at men who, for various reasons, have the feeling that the their penis size is not enough. It is much rarer for men with a micropenis (less than 8 cm in erection). But in these cases, the operation can be covered by Social Security.
Most of the time, it is therefore not a question of treating health problems (anorgasmia, inability to come, etc.), even if the operation has of course a psychological and physical resonance.
When a man feels he has a small penis (or indeed he does), it can be experienced as a psycho-social drama. I see patients who cry in my practice and whose sexuality is reduced to nothing because of this feeling. And even if the gain is sometimes low, especially in the case of micropenis where we cannot claim to normalize the size, the patient feels better.
How is the operation going? How many centimeters can we hope to gain?
There are two options available to the patient: lengthening or thickening.
- THE’elongation consists of freeing the attachments going from the pubis to the penis by cutting the ligament that connects them. The rod thus gains 2.5 cm to 3 cm in length.
- The thickening technique intended to injecting fat back into the penis taken from a donor area of the patient: thighs, stomach. And the average gain in girth is 3cm to 4cm depending on the patient’s desire and the available fat.
Concerning the penis thickening operation, I am not in favor of injecting hyaluronic acid. This method is not recommended by the society of plastic surgeons (Editor’s note: the latter has “serious reservations about this process”). First, because the result is given for 18 to 24 months only, then because there is a greater risk of the formation of bubbles (nodules).
In all cases, it is most of the time an outpatient operation, that is to say with a return in the day, and lengthening and widening can go hand in hand.
Is it true that these operations only affect the size at rest?
Opinions are divided on this point, but in my opinion not. In the case of lengthening, the intervention frees the cavernous bodies attached to the pubis, so this changes the size of the penis both at rest and in an erection.
What is the price of a penoplasty?
It takes between 6,000 and 8,000 euros.
And the patients, what do they say?
According to Ron who performed a thickening operation, it is necessary to repeat the operation so that the fats are fixed more durably in the penis: “Whatever happens the result will fade … It is the edema of the penis. beginning which subsides. The goal of the first operation is to create a kind of “base” on which the fat injected in the second operation can be fixed more durably. For my part, I am rather happy with the result, we will see the evolution over time. ”
If some, like Alex, are not satisfied, it is often because small balls of fat can form : “Fat poorly distributed and which does not adhere to the body of the penis, small balls here and there. At rest it was fine, it was not visible, but erect: horrible! »He specifies however that these balls dissipate and that it is not not really painful: “In any case, the operation does not hurt particularly, except in the legs, where the fat is removed.”
Few testimonies as to the lengthening operation which seems to be less in demand.
In short: in the vast majority of cases, coperations are performed for psychological reasonss, of self-representation. But the borders are sometimes fine between these two universes, the mental and the physical being closely linked.
As a woman, I tell you: since our orgasms are clitoral and not vaginal, you can be perfect lovers without having a big penis! Finally, dear future Rocco Siffredi, know that the wind can turn: among the Greeks the large sexes were perceived as vulgar. Work on your self-confidencei is therefore still the best medicine. So, gentlemen, think twice before you jump in!
